1. Where This Policy Applies
Woofadaar is currently available to users in India. This Privacy Policy is written under Indian law — primarily the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") — and is intended for users located in India. If we expand to other regions in the future, we will update this policy with the additional rights and provisions that apply.
By creating an account or using Woofadaar, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
2. Information We Collect
We collect three broad types of information to operate and improve the app:
Information you give us
- Account details — name, email address, password, optional profile photo
- Dog profile information — name, breed, gender, date of birth, weight, photos, health concerns
- Anything you submit through community posts, feedback, or support requests
Information you create in the app
- Daily health logs (meals, exercise, water, mood, energy, sleep, weight)
- Symptom records, medication schedules and dose entries, vaccination records
- Community questions, answers, upvotes, bookmarks, and any photos attached to them
Information collected automatically
- Device and operating system details, app version
- Usage patterns and feature interactions (anonymised)
- Crash and error reports
- Push notification tokens for the device you have the app installed on
3. How We Use Your Information
We use what we collect to:
- Provide the core features of the app — your account, your dog profiles, health logs, reminders, and the community forum
- Generate AI-powered health insights, daily tips, and reports based on your dog's information
- Send transactional and reminder notifications (email or push) for things like account verification, medication schedules, vaccinations, and community replies
- Understand how the app is used so we can improve features and fix bugs
- Keep the platform secure against fraud, abuse, and unauthorised access
We process this information on the basis of your consent (given when you create an account), the performance of our service to you, and our legitimate interest in operating and improving Woofadaar.
4. AI-Powered Features
Woofadaar uses artificial intelligence to provide health insights, symptom analysis, daily tips, and health reports. To generate these, your dog's health data (breed, age, weight, recent logs, the symptoms you select) is sent securely to our AI service provider for processing. The provider does not retain the data beyond what is needed to return a response.
Important: AI-generated content is for informational and educational purposes only. It does not constitute veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified veterinarian for your dog's health needs.
6. Security
We take security seriously and use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including:
- Encryption in transit and at rest
- Industry-standard password hashing — your password is never stored as plain text
- Secure session tokens for authentication
- Restricted internal access to user data
- Regular review of our security posture
No service on the internet is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data with the care it deserves.
7. Data Retention & Account Deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active, or as long as needed to provide the service. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Privacy & Security → Delete Account in the app.
When you delete your account:
- Your personal data, dog profiles, health records, community posts, and associated data are removed from our active systems
- Photos you uploaded are unlinked from your account and queued for removal from our image hosting provider
- Encrypted backups may retain a copy of your data for a limited period (in line with our infrastructure provider's standard backup schedule) before being purged. We do not access these backups except to recover the platform after a system failure
- Anonymised analytics data (counts, statistics that cannot be linked back to you) may be retained
- Once the steps above are complete, the deletion is final and cannot be undone
8. Your Rights Under the DPDP Act
As a data principal under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the following rights:
- Right to access: See the personal data we hold about you. Most of this is visible inside the app under your profile, dog details, health logs, and community activity.
- Right to correction and completion: Edit your profile, dog details, and health records at any time directly inside the app.
- Right to erasure: Delete your account and the data associated with it from Profile → Privacy & Security → Delete Account.
- Right to a copy of your data: Email us and we will work with you to provide a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to grievance redressal: See the Grievance Officer section below.
- Right to withdraw consent: You can withdraw your consent to any non-essential processing at any time by adjusting your settings, contacting us, or deleting your account.
We aim to respond to any data rights request within 30 days at hello@woofadaar.com.
9. Users Under 18
Woofadaar is intended for users aged 18 and older. We require all account holders to be at least 18 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has registered with us, please contact hello@woofadaar.com and we will promptly delete the account and any associated data.
10. Push Notifications
With your permission, we send push notifications for things like medication and vaccination reminders, health insights, community activity, and daily engagement nudges. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings, or fine-tune categories at Profile → Notification Preferences inside the app.
11. Photos and Media
With your permission, the app accesses your camera and photo library so you can upload dog photos, community post images, and feedback screenshots. Photos are stored with our image hosting provider. You can remove individual photos at any time by editing the relevant profile, post, or entry. When you delete your account, photos are queued for removal from our image hosting provider.
12. We Do Not Sell Your Data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. We do not run advertising inside the app. Your data is used to provide and improve Woofadaar — nothing else.
13. Grievance Officer
If you have a privacy concern or want to raise a grievance about how we handle your data, you can reach our Grievance Officer at:
Email: hello@woofadaar.com
Subject line: Grievance — Privacy
We acknowledge grievances within 7 days and aim to resolve them within 30 days, in line with the DPDP Act.
14. Data Breach Notification
If we become aware of a personal data breach that is likely to affect you, we will notify the Data Protection Board of India and the affected users as required under the DPDP Act, with details of what happened, what data was involved, and what steps we are taking to address it.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and notify you through the app or by email. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
